Who are you?

I am a Spaniard living in Germany. I am crazy for books, especially those in English and preferably the ones which have been travelling around the world for decades, the Books which are on Tour…those are my favourite. I studied English Philology at University in my hometown, Seville, specializing in Literature, of course, most specifically in American Literature, which is my number one passion.

Where are the headquarters of Books on Tour?

We are in the beautiful city of Hamburg, Germany. It is the second most populated city in Germany and also known as the “Venice of the North”. It is the city with most bridges of the world and was awarded the European Green Capital title in 2011.

What is Books on Tour?

Books on Tour is a bookish experience where you would be able to find each month a well-loved but curated vintage book paperback directly at your door, specifically chosen for you according to your preferences and personal tastes. The book will not travel alone, but it will be accompanied by some goodies to make the “Tour” a little bit more enjoyable until it reaches its new home, hopefully with you…

How can I receive one of your books?

You can start the “Books on Tour” experience by clicking the “Subscribe” button and following the easy steps that will lead you to receive one of our boxes directly at your letterbox.

How much does it cost?

The “One-Time Box” has a price of 19 €.

If you want to pay for three consecutive boxes the price is 57 €.

If it is for six months, the price is 114 €.

For one whole year, 228 €.

If you buy a subscription as a one-off payment, your order cannot be cancelled nor refunded.

In the near future, we will be able to offer a “Continuous Subscription”. The price will be the same as the “One-Time Box” but you will receive one box every month and you could cancel it at any time. If you are interested in this option, please write us an email.

How can I pay?

We accept all major credit/debit cards via the Paypal checkout.

When will I be charged?

Your payment will be taken on the day you subscribe.

When can I subscribe?

You can subscribe any time you want.

When will I get my box?

Boxes start to leave our headquarters approximately one week after you have subscribed. We use the Deutsche Post for both national and international parcels. Germany subscribers can expect their box within 1-3 days; international customers within 5-10 days, depending on location.

Do you ship internationally?

At the moment we only ship inside the European Union. But stay tuned for future improvements in this area…

Delivery is included in the price for those living inside Germany.

There is an additional charge for boxes shipping outside Germany. The final price depends on your location. Approximately, it costs between 3 – 5 €.

What will I get in my box?

You will find each month a well-loved but curated vintage book paperback, a “customized” book chosen specifically for you. The book will not travel alone, but it will be accompanied by some goodies to make the “Tour” a little bit more enjoyable until it reaches its new home, hopefully with you…

All our books are “vintage” which means they are at least 20 to 30 years old but we will sure to choose the ones which are in good condition to travel, despite their age.

What can I do if I already own the book you sent me?

We guarantee that we will never repeat the books we send out for you, but we cannot know specifically which books you may already own and therefore cannot issue refunds in case this happens. If this happens, think about the possibility of re-reading the book. When we read a book, the reading experience depends a lot on the moment the reader lives in, so we are sure this second reading will be a completely different experience from the first.

Can I change the genre I chose when I started my subscription?

Of course, you can, there is no problem at all. Just write us a message by the “Contact Us” form and tell us which genre you would like to change to. Please tell us your name exactly as it appears in your subscription.

Who will deliver my box?

Your box will be delivered by your local Postman via the Deutsche Post. Our boxes are made to fit through most letterboxes so you won’t need to go to the Post Office every month and you will have more time to read!!

Can I track my delivery?

It is not possible at this moment but if you have any problems with your order please contact our customer services via the “Contact us” tab at the top of the page.

Where do you get the books you send?

Everywhere!! We buy books in almost every city we visit, as well as from our local bookshops

In which condition will the book be?

These are vintage books, so the majority of them have been “on Tour” for a long time and have been “well-loved”. In any case, you won´t receive a book which is falling apart, but even if the book is a little bit “worn out”, in our point of view it is because it has been well loved during its lifetime, what makes the book even more precious, and it is part of their charm.

Because of their age, the spine may show signs of creasing, and the cover and/or the corners may have signs of wear. You may discover a previous owner has written their name on the inside, or there may be an inscription but, in our opinion, this tells a little bit of the history of the book and it gives the experience of reading such a book a little extra “charm”. Isn´t it fun to think about who previously owned the book and which stories the book has been involved into?

Can I order a box as a gift for another person?

Of course, you can! Our boxes make a really good present for your beloved ones. Click on “Subscribe” and then choose the option “A present”. We will really appreciate it if you fill in the questionnaire so that we can know better the bookish tastes of the recipient of the box. If you want, we could include your personal message handwritten on a card.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions that have been bought as a one-off payment cannot be cancelled or part-refunded.
